Hello and welcome to ADD Wednesday where I blabber on and on about random things swirling around in my brain!

First, we need to talk about this Alaska Airlines flight where the door fell off. I already hate flying. It used to not bother me, and then I watched a special about why planes crash and it really did me in. The special told me it’s usually mechanical failure and not pilot error, and if something is going to go wrong, it’ll most likely happen in the first ten minutes of the flight. So I tend to relax when we level out, but this whole thing has unlocked a new fear in me.

Everyone on the flight said it sounded like a loud boom followed by a gust of wind — and then anything that wasn’t tethered down (like people’s phones) started flying out of the hole. I fly with Mary Margaret in a little bag, so I started to wonder if she, too, would’ve been sucked out of the hole if we were on this flight. This new fear has now been tacked on to the newly unlocked fear mentioned above.

Even though Mary wasn’t sucked out of a plane hole, I’ve been giving her a lot of treats this week to make up for the idea of it happening. I also made a new plan for the next time we fly, which is to bring a bungee cord and physically connect our bodies together with it. That way if she goes, I go —and vice versa.

We will fly out the plane hole together.

The best part of all of this is that the pilot who expertly navigated the plane to safety was a woman, and she was calm, cool and collected. Women can do anything, really. We're unstoppable, which leads me to…
