A couple of months ago, Karyn and I discussed the concept of October Theory. If you don’t feel like clicking, it’s where you set your new-year-style intentions, but instead of starting in January with everyone else, you begin in October and get a jumpstart on everyone else.
As there’s nothing I love more than beating people at contests where they don’t even know they’re in a competition, this sounded like the plan for me.
The thing I really wanted to get after was exercise. I’ve done so well on the GLP-1s, but I’d plateaued and read that building muscle is the best way to get over that plateau. Despite almost every piece of exercise equipment gathering dust in the basement, I have enough self-awareness to understand I do best when I have accountability built into the process. Were I to succeed at beating the amorphous group of people who, again, didn’t know my contest/I existed, I realized I had to work with a trainer.
