Oprah's Taking Ozempic and It's Okay
Plus, I got my face burned off with a Fraxel laser! See the pics!
Hello everyone — we have lots to discuss today! Let’s start with an Ozempic/Wegovy update. Just to recap, I started taking Wegovy five weeks ago. I didn’t lose any weight during weeks one and two because I kept eating when I wasn’t hungry. It was mostly out of boredom and/or habit, so I made a plan to tackle that during weeks three and four, and I finally ended up losing six pounds. So yay for me!
One of the things these drugs are supposed to do is turn off the “food noise” in your brain, which is the incessant chatter to eat, eat, eat. For some reason, my brain still won’t shut the fuck up, but I’m hoping this will change. In the past couple of weeks, I’ve had a lot of urges to eat cookies and the such, and they’re hard to resist. And to be clear, I’m not hungry at all. (I’m never hungry on this drug.) Yesterday, for example, I really wanted pancakes and even went to Postmates to see what kind I should get. I didn’t end up ordering them, but still. I increased my dosage this week, so hopefully that will make things better.
ANYWAY. There was a lot of news this past week with Oprah admitting she’s taking weight loss medication, and with Weight Watchers announcing their new program for people taking GLP1s.
