What is it like for people to open up the internet or a newspaper, read a story, and just nod to themselves, thinking, Yes, I feel like that tracks and I need not give it an additional thought, and then just move on with their day?

Like, how easy does life feel for them?

What’s it like to walk around in their guileless skin?

Is it… fun? Is it uplifting? Is it just a GD delight? To always view the glass as not only half full, but containing something nice or tasty to quench their thirst? How is anyone able to step onto, say, a cruise ship, and not immediately start counting lifeboats? Or enter a crowded space and not stick to the periphery where the exits are? Does no one else scan strangers’ waistbands and ankles in the marketplace to see if they’re carrying a concealed weapon?
